I remember it as if it were yesterday : I must have been around twelve years old (or a bit older) when my parents bought their first colour TV. One sunday afternoon, it was raining outside, I was sitting in front of the TV set - eager to watch the films and documentaries in "full colour"...... And the first movie that I ever saw (on TV) in colour was...... "Winnetou and Old Shatterhand". The treat was "double" in this case : not only could we enjoy the magnificent landscape of the "Far West" (how blue those skies were!) - we also got to hear the hauntingly beautiful music of Martin Boettcher for the first time. I was fascinated by this music and when the national broadcasting company aired yet another Winnetou episode some days later, I hurried to sit in front of the set, because ...... I wanted to hear "that music" again. From that point on, I have been 'in love' with this fabulous music. A few years later, I bought the complete soundtrack and when the CD was released..... ! I just couldn't resist :) So, the reason why I posted this will probably be just "youth sentiment" or "pure nostalgia" but then again ...... here too, I couldn't resist sharing this magical melody with all of you (though for most it won't be a "first encounter" ;-) The original version by Martin Boettcher is, of course, "incontournable", but Gunter Noris manages to bring yet another great version of the composition with a flute playing the basic melody and a smooth rhythm section 'to back up' the other
